Britney Spears Reveals Why She ‘Went Along’ With Conservatorship

Britney Spears endured over a decade of limited financial and personal autonomy due to being placed under a conservatorship by her family. The musician shared her deeply personal motivation for choosing to be under a conservatorship after the publication of her book, The Woman in Me.

“I did it for my kids,” she confessed in the book. “Because I played by the rules, I was reunited with my boys,” the pop singer added.

In another section of the recently released book, Britney Spears shares intimate moments from her life and reflects on the indescribable feeling of newfound freedom after over ten years.

“Freedom means I don’t have to perform for anyone – onstage or offstage. Freedom means that I get to be as beautifully imperfect as everyone else,” she wrote.

In hindsight, if Britney hadn’t entered into a conservatorship, would her relationship with her sons have been better? Why or why not?
