Mobile is NOT A Good Place To Live?

According to some people that own a website, Mobile is a crappy place to live.

Uh, say it ‘aint so!

It’s so.  At least, according to the data they used to determine that title.

The website “RoadSnacks.com” just listed Mobile as the 10th worst place in the country to live.  That’s not awesome.

After I dug into the story a bit I found out that they determined the cities as “The Worst Places To Live” by “using FBI crime data and the most recent government census American Community Survey data.”  By that they meant grabbing the following statistics:

*Population Density (The lower the worse – meaning there’s less to do for indoor entertainment)
*Highest Unemployment Rates
*Adjusted Median Income
*Low home prices
*Amount of uninsured people
*A high portion of uneducated adults
*High crime
*High poverty

Anyone that has lived in Mobile knows that if they’re going to use those type of stats to determine a cities ability to be a good place to live, Mobile isn’t going to come out as the best.

Here’s how the article breaks down the stats used to determine a top 10 finish:

MOBILE, ALABAMA – 10th WORST CITY IN THE U.S. TO LIVE
Population:
193,717
Home Values: $119,500 (35th worst)
Unemployment Rate: 9.4% (58th worst)
Mobile rounds out the list coming in as the 10th worst place to live in America for 2018.

You’ve got the 12th highest crime rate, which saw 1,709 violent crimes last year. You have a 1 in 16.5 chance of being robbed and a 1 in 113 chance of being attacked, raped or killed here for every year you spend in the city limits of Mobile.

Plus, folks are simply out of work. Mobile sports the state’s 58th highest unemployment rate (9.4%), and families bring in a combined $38,759 a year, which is far below the average.

No wonder homes are cheap; you can get one yourself for only $119,500.

Take a look at the top 10 worst cities to live:

10 – Mobile, Alabama
9 – St. Louis, Missouri
8 – Tucson, Arizona
7 – Brownsville, Texas
6 – Cleveland, Ohio
5 – San Bernardino, California
4 – Detroit, Michigan
3 – Dayton, Ohio
2 – Jackson, Missouri
1 – Memphis, Tennessee

I’m not sure if this is something we should take pride in or be happy about.  There are 9 other spots we COULD be in that are worse off than us right now…so there’s no argument that the only place we can go from here is up.  That’s not true.  TO CHECK OUT THE ARTICLE AND SEE THE TOP 10 BEST PLACES TO LIVE CLICK HERE
